New Year News
Wishing you a Happy & Healthy New Year! I hope your holidays were filled with joy and smiles! As we look to the new year, you may be considering setting New Year’s resolutions, or maybe you prefer to set 2024 goals. It can be helpful to start with some reflection on 2023.
What went well? What were the wins, and what opportunities have yet to be realized? We can look back with self-compassion and know we did our best. You overcame obstacles, met challenges, and made a difference!
I like to choose a word (or two) that will be my theme for the year. These words inspire and inform my decisions and help me focus on creating positive and fulfilling life experiences. My words for this year are playful and self-care. I want to have fun and joyful experiences, which are also moments of self-care that become memories to cherish.
I am grateful for the amazing achievements of 2023, but at the same time, it was a physically challenging year for me. In 2024, I will continue speaking, promoting 21 Mistakes Caregivers Make & How to Avoid Them, and leading caregiver support groups. I will balance this work with self-care and prioritize my well-being, as I encourage all of you to do. I’m looking forward to connecting with you in 2024!

Shift Your Mindset
In your job at work, if you were feeling overwhelmed, you would likely go to your boss and request more team members. If you were the boss, you might train staff members and delegate tasks. You would set limits around how much time was spent at work. When we adopt this mindset in our caregiver role, we change how we view each responsibility. When we shift our mindset from helper to Caregiver CEO early in the process, we set ourselves up for success. We identify what tasks we need to continue to do and determine what tasks can be delegated.
